French St Martin tourism officials in a recent statement said, that while there will be some soft openings of guesthouses before the end of the year, they do not anticipate hotel inventory to be back to normal until the 2018-2019 season with damages estimated at $3.5 billion.
The following properties are working to reopen by:
- Alamanda Resort will reopen in fall 2018
- Belmond La Samanna will not reopen until at least April 28, 2018
- Grand Case Beach Club may take up to a year to rebuild and repair
La Playa Orient Bay, Esmeralda Resort, Hotel Mercur and Riu Palace St Martin are closed and have not yet announced reopening dates.
In the meanwhile, travelers can find a growing list of hotels in St Maarten that are open, post hurricanes.
